Welcome to the FSC Global Forest Risk Registry!
This Registry is a free tool providing information about the risk of sourcing controversial wood and other forest products from more than 150 countries. It is under development by NEPCon in cooperation with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Rainforest Alliance. This tool is targeted towards companies (producers, retailers, distributors, wholesalers), auditors/verifiers, NGOs and other parties wishing to conduct due diligence on the risks of sourcing raw material from forests and forest products operations in various countries. For example, within the FSC system the Registry can assist FSC candidate or certified operations in verifying that they are not sourcing non FSC certified material from controversial sources, as required by the FSC chain of custody rules and Controlled Wood requirements. However, it may also useful for other stakeholders of responsible forestry, perhaps even consumers. Many entities or individuals (retailers, wholesalers, distributors, etc.) that are involved in timber or non-timber forest products trade wish to avoid purchasing products that will negatively affect forests or create controversy, and thus may use this website to evaluate supply issues within the area they are sourcing from.We are seeking feedback on this solution. Please browse the other pages using the menu above for more info.
